G6 Hospitality Corporate Departmental Graphics

G6 Hospitality, the parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6, had two distinct problems after moving their corporate office to a new location in Carrollton, Texas. The personable nature of their brand was in no way reflected in the physical space they now inhabited, and the repetitive nature of the building floor plan was confusing for franchise partners and other visitors as they attempted to navigate the labyrinth of white hallways.
RBMM was therefore challenged with developing a visual system to designate the location of the various departments within the corporate office, while at the same time bolstering employee pride in the brand and work environment.
We landed on the idea of using the iconic 6 that tied all of G6 Hospitality’s brands together as the central visual element for the wayfinding system. Each department would get its own unique color stripe and 6 sculpture composed of materials and objects that were conceptually relevant to the work they performed. It was no easy task developing solutions that would conform to the shape of the 6 and we leaned heavily on the expertise of our production partner, Gratuitous Sets, to bring some particularly crazy ideas to life.
Finally, to further instill a sense of departmental pride and involvement, we created an extensive employee photo library that was used to populate frames within each department. The frames were custom built to allow for image content to be easily replaced without having to remove the frames from the wall. This gave the marketing team the ability to regularly swap out photos to keep the presentation fresh and current.
The result was a system of nine one-of-a-kind works of art that serve both as visually arresting landmarks for visitors and inspiring backdrops for employees.
